O&O Defrag V6 Server Edition is not only the ideal, specially-created
defragmentation software for servers - it also contains the O&O Defrag
network management. This tool allows you to distribute and control O&O
Defrag over your entire network. O&O Defrag even includes it own
software distribution system (O&O ComponentInstaller), which enables
you to distribute the software around the network with only a few
clicks of the mouse. Even updates can be easily integrated with the
intelligent version checking system.
A special O&O Defrag agent is included as client software with the O&O
Defrag V6 Server Edition - this agent only needs to be installed once.
After this, the entire communication is controlled with the console.
Whenever the console recognizes a new computer on which the agent has
not yet been installed, the administrator is prompted to install it.
No further software is required, nor are any further configurations.
Everything will be done for you, and all fully integrated in Windows'
security concept.
One of the most important new features in the new version of O&O Defrag
is the type of communication between the various program elements. The
error-prone, proprietary and insecure DCOM communication protocol has
been completely replaced with the standard protocol TCP/IP. This
additionally prevents security problems as the W32.blaster virus and
O&O Defrag V6 therefore integrates itself into the security concept of
every company.
If you wish to allow your users to get access to the defragmentation
process, O&O Defrag offers you two alternatives to do so. Administrators
can decide to display an icon on the clients' desktop task tray that l
ets
the users know about the currently ongoing defragmentation job and allow
the users to pause or even stop the defragmentation job. Of course users
can also be allowed to make use of the complete graphical user interface
of O&O Defrag, which for example makes sense for notebook users. O&O
Defrag V6 Professional Edition can be used without changes to the overall
setup within the network. Your users may configure all parameters and the
defragmentation process, if desired. They do not have access to other
computers or the global setup of course.
Why O&O Defrag?
O&O Defrag V6 solves severe performance and stability problems which are
caused by fragmented hard disks. Due to repeated writing, changing and
deleting fragmentation occurs on a computers hard disk. Files are being
stored in non-contiguous parts, so-called file fragments, on the hard
disk. This fragmentation in the main reason for the loss of performance
under Windows. As a mechanically working hard disk is the slowest, but a
very important component of a computer its optimization is highly
important. O&O Defrag V6 puts the thousands of fragmented files together
again and even rearranges in specific different user defined orders.
Files can now be read and written much faster. The seemingly lost
performance is reactivated with O&O Defrag V6 safely an comfortable.
